London Marathon 22nd April 2007

I’m running the London Marathon for Cancer Research UK. Time is getting short – just 5 weeks tomorrow until the big day. If all goes well it will be the fulfilment of a little promise I made to myself 5 years ago before I retired: attempt a marathon every year until I’m 70. So, 4 down and 1 to go!

This year I chose to run for Cancer Research UK. Cancer is such a terrible scourge that affects most of our families at some time. I feel that any little help we can give to this great cause is well worthwhile. Because of this Charity’s dedicated work, many people are walking around today who would otherwise have died of cancer.

However the fight against cancer must go on until all cancers can be cured or at least controlled. I am asking people I know to sponsor me in this year’s London marathon, and in this way raise a bit more money for this cause.

A big thank you to all who have donated already! If you or any of your friends would like to help then you can donate online at www.justgiving.co.uk/jgmccann.

In spite of a rather persistent little cold, I have been able to put in the training miles – running 4 or 5 times a week. At least the weather has been kinder lately, and it hasn’t been such a grind.

Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes
